Does Chick-Fil-A Hire Felons?

Chick-fil-a is one of the most iconic fast-food restaurants in the United States. Chick-fil-a’s popularity is due to its famous Original Chicken Sandwich and customer service.

Many people would like to put that part of their life behind them. For many with felonies, their punishment continues after their sentence is up. They often receive skepticism and discrimination in the job market. So now the question is: Is Chick-fil-a a second chance employer?

About Chick-fil-a

Chick-fil-a is an American fast-food corporation offering chicken sandwiches, salads, and milkshakes. The fast-food chain is best known for its original Chicken Sandwich.

Founded in 1967, the “Eat mor chicken” company began in Georgia. The first Chick-fil-a opened its doors in the Greenbrier shopping center in Atlanta. Twenty years later, Chick-fil-a opened its first free-standing restaurant.

Chick-fil-now operates in 3 countries worldwide and provides jobs to approximately 860K employees. The company also enjoys a whopping 10 billion dollars in sales!

Not only does it employ almost 1 million people, but it also provides attractive benefits. Depending on your position, the company offers 401(k) plans, medical insurance, and paid time off.

Many employees also enjoy the company culture and scholarship opportunities. Other employees have lauded the company’s advancement opportunities.

Does Chick-fil-a Hire Felons?

After researching the question, the short answer is yes. My research shows that Chick-fil-a will hire those with felony backgrounds.

Many ex-felons have had great success finding work at Chick-fil-a. Chick-fil-a is a franchise, and many of its restaurants set their own hiring standards. This lack of centralization means Chick-fil-a does not have a background check policy.

Does Chick-Fil-A Run Background Checks?

The short answer to this question is: yes. My research shows that many operators choose to run pre-employment background checks.

If you are hoping to open a franchise location or become a manager, then the answer is a definite yes. All franchise operators and managers go through a vetting process.

Careers At Chick-Fil-A

Chick-fil-a offers many opportunities for employment at its 2300 locations nationwide.

Cashier is one of the most common positions at Chick-fil-a. The requirements ask for hard-workers, a willingness to learn, and flexibility.

Team Member is also a common position. It requires a team player with excellent customer service skills.

Kitchen Team Members are much like their more general counterparts. This position requires someone who is flexible, hardworking, and also team-oriented.

Managers are a less frequently seen position. Requirements include many years of food management experience and flexible working hours.

Application Process

Chick-Fil-A often franchises out to independent operators. Operators then list any job openings they may have on 3rd party websites. You can find more information about Chick-fil-a’s application process here.

As with many places, there are a few tips specific to Chick-fil-a.

The first tip is to ask. We mentioned before franchise operators are in charge of individual chick-fil-a restaurants. This means that each restaurant could have different hiring policies. The easiest way to learn what these policies are is to ask the manager directly.

Second, make sure to never lie about your background to the interviewer. Do not go out of your way to explain your background if the interviewer does not ask. But, if the question does come up, make sure you are open and honest.

Lastly, Chick-Fil-A is always looking for friendly and ambitious people. So make sure you put on a happy face and explain how excited you are to make Chick-Fil-A your new work home!

Keep these tips in mind, and you should be ready to ace any interview!
