Edward Nichols made Jones the administrator of Inger's estate. For all intents and purposes, Ms. Stevens' death was a suicide but Patterson's bio indicates other possibilities. Separation and reconcilliation became a cyclic pattern in their lives. For roughly a decade and a half, Swedish beauty Inger Stevens starred in numerous movies and television shows before her career was cut tragically short. She began her career as a burlesque dancer as a teen, before making a big splash on screen with her role in the 1968 Western movie Hang Em High. A brief Broadway lead in "Roman Candle", an Emmy-nominated role opposite Peter Falk in The Dick Powell Theatre: Price of Tomatoes (1962), and popular appearances on such TV shows as Bonanza (1959), The Twilight Zone (1959) and Route 66 (1960) paved the way to a popular series as "Katy Holstrum", the Swedish governess, in The Farmer's Daughter (1963). By the time of her death, they were already separated. After her death, Ike Jones, the first African-American to graduate from UCLA's Schoolof Theater, Film, and Television,claimed that he had been secretly married to Stevens since 1961. After Lola called the police, they dispatched an ambulance that took her to Hollywood Receiving Hospital where she got pronounced dead upon arrival.
